A remote property may have several Internet links with different characteristics. Depending on the technical design, Layer 3 can use multiple links to improve how available capacity is utilised. Arithmetic bandwidth totals are not assumed or guaranteed.
Suitable third-party connections may potentially remain part of the design.
Additional technically appropriate access paths can be assessed.
DON'T DEPEND ON ONE PATH
Multiple access technologies can provide alternative connectivity paths when appropriately designed. Actual failover behaviour depends on the network design, equipment, available services and condition of the remaining links.
